Funkadelic "By Way of the Drum" (Dub)

Originally released in '89 "By Way of the Drum" was released as the lead single for a new Funkadelic album by the same name that never saw the light of day. It probably had to do with the fact that the single did poorly in sales and never charted.

It's surprising to see that the production and song writing was credited to George Clinton, David Spradley, and the diaper wearing Garry Shider. It doesn't have any of the characteristics that one would expect from a Funkadelic record and sounds more like if Juan Atkins and Jellybean had locked themselves in a studio with a pound of weed.

Fast foward to 2007 and we finally see Universal subsidiary Hip-O giving the full length an official release. The 2007 CD release also contains all of the mixes of "By Way of the Drum" found on the 12" single.
